OpusClip is no longer one simple long-video-to-shorts tool. The original OpusClip product finds, scores, reframes, captions, edits, exports, and publishes moments from existing footage. Agent Opus is a separate but credit-connected generation product that turns a prompt, script, article, audio file, or the audio track of a video into a produced video. A hosted MCP server, a confirmation-gated Claude connector, an API, and an installable agent Skill now make the workspace programmable. This review keeps those surfaces separate, calculates the current plan economics, traces what each meter actually charges, and tests the editing, handoff, retention, publishing, licensing, and automation claims against OpusClip's first-party documentation.
Is OpusClip worth it in 2026?
OpusClip is worth it when the repeatable job is finding many social-ready candidates inside approved long footage. Starter costs $15 monthly for 150 source-minute credits and editable, watermark-free 9:16 clips. Pro costs $29 monthly for 300 credits or $174 prepaid yearly for 3,600 credits, and adds multiple ratios, tracking, 100GB shared storage, two seats, scheduling, NLE handoff, broader media tools, API beta, hosted MCP, and agent integrations. Agent Opus shares most credits but charges generation in ten-second increments and adds a 1,500-credit Max tier whose public dollar price is not stated in the documentation reviewed. The decisive cautions are source-minute economics, expiring credits and projects, Pro feature concentration, separate API caps, partial interchange, inconsistent help pages, limited right-to-left language support, and the need to review every selected or generated claim before publishing.

Checked August 24, 2026. OpusClip's clipping credits usually measure the source range, while Agent Opus generation is priced by output duration and generation type. Starter is monthly only. Pro is either monthly or annually prepaid, and the yearly checkout releases the entire 3,600-credit pool immediately. Max is documented as 1,500 monthly credits through Agent Opus, but an official public USD price was not present in the sources reviewed, so the signed-in subscription page is authoritative.

Monthly paid credits expire after 60 days and annual credits after 12 months. OpusClip clipping usually costs one credit per whole source minute; Agent Opus currently starts at 10 credits per 10 seconds for script- or audio-to-video, 20 per 10 seconds for news/article generation, 30 per 10 seconds for AI UGC, and five credits per second for Motion Graphic. The interface shows cost before generation and returns frozen credits after a failed or aborted generation. Pro API and agent calls have an additional 900-credit/15-hour monthly workspace cap, four concurrent projects, and a ten-credit minimum per API project. Current pricing lists Starter AI image B-roll at three clips per month, while an older help article says three per day; use the live plan card for purchase decisions.
Choose OpusClip when one long recording should become a repeatable batch of ranked, captioned, branded, and scheduled social clips. Choose Agent Opus when the starting point is an idea, script, article, or narration and synthetic production is acceptable. Pro is the meaningful operations tier, but its $174 annual offer is a prepayment decision, not merely a $14.50 monthly subscription, and API automation has a separate 900-credit monthly workspace cap. Choose a conventional NLE for exact finishing and round-trip fidelity. Choose Valmera when the job begins with an open-ended editing brief applied to real footage and the desired interaction is conversational rendered revision rather than a predefined clipping or generation pipeline. Run one representative source through selection, correction, export, revision, and publishing before buying a pack or annual term.
Method: this is an editorial analysis of OpusClip's official product, help, and pricing material, checked August 24, 2026. It is not presented as a hands-on lab test. Valmera makes a competing video editor; there are no affiliate links, and the competitor's advantages are included because the right answer is sometimes OpusClip.

What OpusClip Actually Is
OpusClip ingests a local file or supported video link, analyzes a chosen portion of the source, and returns clips intended to stand alone on social platforms. Free clipping is centered on spoken words. Paid models add signals such as visual objects, sound, emotion, and genre. The resulting batch can include automatic framing, captions, highlighted keywords, titles, descriptions, hashtags, and a vendor-generated Virality Score.
ClipAnything is the important capability behind the broader positioning. It can search a video with little or no dialogue using visual, audio, and sentiment cues. A prompt can ask for a scene, action, person, event, sound, emotional reaction, topic, or compilation—for example, every touchdown or every moment of laughter. Its prompt is a retrieval instruction, not an editing brief: OpusClip says prompts should not be used to request aspect ratio, transitions, audio repair, emoji styling, clip length, or cinematic effects. Those settings belong elsewhere, and current prompt guidance says to write ClipAnything prompts in English.
The batch size varies with both source duration and model. OpusClip's current guide estimates roughly 1–2 clips from a source under three minutes, 5–21 from 10–30 minutes, 23–32 from 30–60 minutes, 32–42 from one to two hours, and 42–55 beyond two hours; ClipAnything generally returns slightly more than ClipBasic. These are estimates, not a guaranteed yield of usable clips.
Virality Score is available on Starter and Pro, not Free. The score ranges from 0 to 99 and evaluates hook, flow, value, trend, plus relevance to a prompt when ClipAnything is used. It is useful for sorting a large batch into a review queue. It is still OpusClip's prediction, not observed audience data, and it cannot know the channel's distribution strength, packaging, historical retention, or current platform context.
The product now extends beyond selection. Starter adds a text- and timeline-based editor, captions, filler and silence removal, one brand template, watermark-free 9:16 export, and direct posting. Pro adds 1:1 and 16:9, moving-object tracking, two templates, up to two custom fonts, uploaded assets, B-roll, bad-take cleanup, transitions, speech tools, two seats per pack, 100GB storage, bulk download, XML handoff to Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, six social connections, scheduling, Zapier, and limited API access.
NLE handoff is more useful than a flattened download, but it is not lossless project interchange. The export package includes raw media, XML, and SRT. OpusClip says auto captions may arrive as overlays rather than editable caption objects; editors who need new caption styling should use the SRT. XML interpretation can vary by editor, and OpusClip recommends Premiere Pro for the smoother path even though DaVinci Resolve and other XML-capable tools may work.
Credits measure the source, not the output. Processing normally costs one credit per whole minute imported; processing a selected timeframe can reduce the charge. A source shorter than one minute rounds up to one credit, while partial minutes above one are currently rounded down. X posting is a separate one-credit-per-post exception. Monthly paid credits last 60 days, annual credits last 12 months, and canceling leaves the original expiry date in place.
Overflow is sold through plan refreshes and packs rather than a simple à-la-carte credit price. A paid user can repurchase the current plan for an immediate refill. Pro can add another pack, which adds another 300 monthly credits, two seats, templates, and storage rather than credits alone, with a maximum of two packs and four workspace seats in the self-serve documentation. That is efficient when the team needs all resources and wasteful when only a few extra source minutes are missing.
OpusClip also has an iOS app, but it is not equivalent to the web editor. Current documentation says iOS lacks Google Drive and auto-import setup, custom clip length at upload, bulk or XML export, cloud save controls, AI enhancements, B-roll, image overlays, template creation, and timed or bulk scheduling. It can still import, clip, make basic caption edits, apply existing templates, connect accounts, and publish. Buyers should evaluate the web workflow when Pro features are material.
The first distinction in any current OpusClip review is product scope. OpusClip begins with footage that already exists and tries to identify social-worthy moments. Agent Opus begins with an idea or narrative input and generates a video. The same account and most plan credits can span both products, but their inputs, cost units, checkpoints, risks, and output provenance differ. Calling both an AI video editor conceals the buying decision: one is primarily retrieval, reframing, and finishing; the other is synthetic production directed through a staged agent workflow.
The self-serve price math is unusually favorable only if the allowance will be used. Starter is $15 every month, or $180 over 12 uninterrupted months, for 1,800 credits delivered in 150-credit installments. Pro is $29 monthly, or $348 over 12 months, for 3,600 credits delivered in 300-credit installments. Annual Pro is $174 prepaid for the same 3,600-credit nominal total, saving $174 against twelve monthly payments. It also puts the full pool and the full prepayment at risk immediately, and those credits expire after 12 months.
A clipping credit is not a finished-video minute. The system normally measures the selected duration of the source. A 60-minute episode therefore costs about 60 credits whether it yields four publishable clips or 30. Selecting a narrower range before processing can reduce spend. A source under one minute rounds up to one credit; partial minutes above one are documented as rounding down. This makes source preparation, accurate in-and-out ranges, and candidate acceptance rate more important to unit economics than the raw number printed on the plan card.
Agent Opus uses the same word, credit, for a different event. Generation is measured in output-duration increments and varies by mode. Current documentation starts script-to-video and audio-to-video at ten credits per ten seconds, news or article video at 20, AI UGC at 30, and Motion Graphic at five credits per second. A 60-second script video therefore starts around 60 credits, while a 60-second AI UGC generation is 180 before any additional choices. The product previews cost, freezes the required amount, and returns it if generation fails or the user aborts.
Most subscription credits can move between Agent Opus and OpusClip, which is useful but also creates shared-budget contention. A social team can spend Pro's 300 monthly credits processing five one-hour podcasts, or consume the same nominal pool on roughly five minutes of base-rate script generation. One-time signup credits and some daily free allowances are Agent-only exceptions. The usage history, product, mode, source duration, output duration, and team member should all be recorded if finance needs a defensible cost per approved asset.
Agent Opus is not a single-prompt black box. A vague request triggers required clarification questions about length, direction, audience, platform, format, tone, and other choices. The system then produces a Video Brief with a summary and guardrails, a transcript with a live word count and runtime estimate, and a shot-by-shot storyboard with anchor assets for characters, products, or locations. Each stage can be refined in chat before final generation. A sufficiently complete script or prompt can bypass clarification and move directly through the drafted stages.
The review gates have a consequential automation default. If the user walks away, Agent Opus waits five minutes and then auto-confirms the brief and transcript using its best judgment. After it drafts the storyboard, another five minutes without activity can auto-confirm that stage and begin generation. That behavior favors unattended throughput, but it is not appropriate for regulated claims, embargoed launches, licensed characters, medical or financial statements, or strict brand review. Stay present, inspect every checkpoint, and preserve an approved script when factual or legal precision matters.
The main Agent Opus transcript ceiling is 1,700 words or approximately ten minutes of audio. Direct text can be a finished transcript, a script, or a topic. Supported audio includes MP3, M4A, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, and WEBA. Supported video containers include MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV, AVI, M4V, MPG, and MPEG, but only the audio track is extracted for the narrative; existing shot composition is not preserved. Instrumental audio is not accepted as the narration source. Long podcasts must therefore be excerpted or handled by OpusClip instead.
Agent Opus documentation is not perfectly consistent about external inputs. Its principal FAQ table marks direct prompts and transcripts as supported, while examples and the Style Maker describe articles, blogs, public video links, and other references. A buyer should distinguish content pasted into the prompt from a link the live interface can actually fetch. For reproducible work, paste the approved text, upload an accepted file, retain a local copy, and treat the active upload control as authoritative when a help article and the product surface disagree.
Style Maker builds a reusable visual direction from up to eight PNG, JPG, or WebP images, one uploaded MP4, MOV, or WebM video up to ten minutes, one supported public video link, and an optional text description. It previews a color palette and three sample scenes, keeps iteration history, and lets the user restore an earlier version. This is closer to visual-reference conditioning than a deterministic brand system. Logos, exact typography, prohibited colors, product geometry, people, and claims still need a formal brand review after rendering.
Story Mode is a distinct Agent Opus generation path focused on visual continuity. It creates 100% AI-generated scenes and uses a 'Long Take' concept in which shots morph or flow rather than cutting between unrelated stock and generated material. It supports preset or custom styles, built-in or cloned narration voices, and multiple social aspect ratios. Its source ceiling is smaller than the main agent—currently 450 words or about four minutes—so it suits stylized explainers and faceless narratives more than long interviews or editing an existing episode.
Agent Opus is region-gated rather than universally available. Opus publishes a specific supported-region list, and the United Arab Emirates appears on it as of this review. Region support can change independently of plan availability, payment eligibility, model availability, and local law. Teams operating across multiple countries should verify every production user's region and avoid assuming that one account's access means the whole organization can use the generation surface.
The manual clip editor begins with the generated transcript and canvas. Selecting a word, phrase, sentence, or larger span can correct the transcript, remove captions while keeping video, or delete both caption and linked video. Missing captions can be typed into the script. A user can add a new section from the full transcript, which is useful when the model omitted an important quote. These controls make an OpusClip candidate editable, but they do not convert the product into an unrestricted multitrack long-form NLE.
Caption styling includes font, size, color, stroke, shadow, case, highlighting, and draggable canvas position. A brand template can disable captions before a new project is processed. Existing clips require caption state to be changed one clip at a time because the current help center says there is no bulk caption-edit action. Captions burned into the source pixels cannot be removed by OpusClip; the only reliable solution is a clean source. Caption QA should cover wording, safe area, line breaks, contrast, speaker context, and every target platform preview.
Brand Vocabulary can improve recognition of recurring names and terms, while custom fonts and templates keep a workspace closer to a repeatable visual system. Those aids reduce correction time but do not guarantee accurate proper nouns, trademarks, technical words, prices, dates, or multilingual names. The source transcript, displayed captions, SRT, social copy, title, and description are separate text surfaces. A correction in one should not be assumed to propagate to every exported or scheduled artifact without a check.
Pro's censor workflow can detect or accept flagged terms, hide them in captions, and mute or bleep the matching audio. Custom word lists make the tool useful for platform-safe versions and client-specific restrictions. Censorship still needs human review because recognition can miss homophones, context can make a neutral word inappropriate, and cutting or beeping one term may not remove the meaning of a claim. Preserve the uncensored master and document which version is approved for each destination.
Speech Cleanup removes filler words, silence, and on Pro bad takes; Speech Enhancement attempts to improve noisy or weak dialogue. These are semantic and reconstructive operations, not neutral switches. Removing every pause can damage humor, authority, emotion, or comprehension. Bad-take detection can remove a correction the speaker intended to keep. Enhancement can introduce artifacts or change room tone. Compare the processed result against the source with headphones and inspect every join rather than trusting the feature label.
B-roll now spans several systems. OpusClip can add stock results, AI image B-roll, uploaded media assets, and on current Pro pricing AI video B-roll powered by Agent Opus. Generated B-roll can be moved, reframed, trimmed, extended, and regenerated, with regeneration documented as free. Stock comes through external providers such as Pexels and remains subject to the provider's license. Relevance, factual depiction, product accuracy, faces, text inside images, continuity, and commercial rights remain the publisher's responsibility.
The B-roll allowance is a good example of documentation drift. The live pricing matrix checked for this review lists Starter AI image B-roll at three clips per month and Pro at 50 per day, while an older help article says Starter receives three per day. The pricing matrix also advertises uploaded media assets and Agent Opus video B-roll where older articles describe uploads as future work. Purchase against the live checkout and in-product quota, record a screenshot, and do not build a client SLA around a stale help-center number.
Automatic reframing and moving-subject tracking solve different problems. Reframing changes a source into the selected aspect ratio; tracking tries to keep a moving subject within that composition. Starter is centered on 9:16 and lacks the Pro tracking entitlement. Pro adds 1:1 and 16:9 and manual reframe controls. Talking heads are easier than two speakers at opposite edges, slides plus a presenter, sports action, screen recordings, or frequent occlusion. Every candidate should be watched in the final ratio, especially around cuts and camera movement.
Input support is broad: current documentation lists local files and sources including YouTube, Google Drive, Vimeo, Zoom, Rumble, Twitch, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Dropbox, Riverside, Loom, Frame.io, StreamYard, Kick, public MP4 links, and others. Availability varies by plan, private links may be inaccessible, and third-party authorization or ownership checks can interrupt import. Pro documentation now cites a 30GB ceiling in some places while a general web-upload article still cites 10GB. The active upload dialog should decide a large ingest, not a cached comparison table.
Auto Import can watch a connected YouTube channel and process new uploads, and live-stream workflows can accept supported stream recordings. Automation removes a manual handoff but can also spend credits on an unwanted upload, process the wrong default range, or expose unreviewed material to a shared workspace. Use a dedicated channel, a documented template, a credit threshold, and an approval queue. Copyright and platform permissions still apply even when OpusClip can technically fetch a public URL.
Project retention is plan-specific and separate from credit expiry. Trial projects last seven days, Free projects three days, and Starter or ordinary Pro projects 30 days. Once an expired project is removed, the help center describes it as unrecoverable. Pro's 100GB shared cloud storage can manually or automatically save projects beyond that window, while uploaded assets and overlays draw from the same storage. Download final masters, captions, transcripts, social copy, and handoff packages to controlled storage rather than treating a browser workspace as an archive.
Credit recovery has rules. Pro users can request a project-credit refund and reprocess within 14 days only if no clip from that project has been downloaded. Deleting a project does not itself refund credits. Failed jobs and jobs exceeding documented processing thresholds may return credits automatically, even if delayed processing later produces clips. The project history and usage ledger should be checked before resubmitting, because an impatient retry can create duplicate work or consume another source-minute charge.
The social calendar saves a frozen copy of the clip at the moment a schedule is created. Editing and saving the original afterward does not update the scheduled asset; the post must be scheduled again. The frozen scheduled version can publish even after the source project expires. That is operationally durable but creates a version-control hazard. The approved clip hash, caption, destination, account, time zone, and schedule ID should be recorded, and any material correction should cancel and replace the existing schedule.
Starter can publish immediately to YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Pro can publish or schedule YouTube, TikTok Feed, Instagram Reels, Facebook Pages, LinkedIn, and X beta, with six connected social accounts in total. Facebook profiles and groups are not supported. Two posts aimed at the same account at the same time are separated by a one-minute delay. Removing a social connection cancels its future schedules, and X posting currently consumes one credit per post with documented refund behavior on failure or deletion.
Local videos uploaded directly into the scheduler must meet a separate delivery constraint: the current scheduler FAQ describes MP4 files under 200MB and notes a TikTok frame-rate requirement above 23 fps. A file that is valid for project ingestion is not automatically valid for every social destination. Platform duration, codec, audio, aspect-ratio, caption, music-rights, and account-type rules can change. A successful OpusClip export is only the start of destination-specific validation.
Premiere Pro handoff packages the original raw video, XML, SRT, and supporting video, audio, image, B-roll, and logo assets. Each chosen segment can be extended by up to 30 seconds before or after in the destination editor. Captions and emojis can arrive as overlay assets rather than native editable captions, so the SRT is the better route when a finishing editor must restyle or correct them. This is a useful rough-cut bridge, not a promise that every effect, font, animation, track, and timing decision round-trips with full fidelity.
DaVinci Resolve accepts the documented XML path, but XML versions and timeline interpretation can differ by NLE. Frame rate, canvas size, nested media, offline paths, crop transforms, fonts, captions, and generated assets should be inspected on import. Keep the original OpusClip download beside the reconstructed timeline as a visual reference. If exact interchange is a contract requirement, run a representative handoff before the project starts rather than discovering an overlay or timing mismatch at final delivery.
The API has expanded beyond submitting a source and polling clips. Current first-party docs cover projects, clips, brand templates, sharing, social posting, webhooks, censorship jobs, source transcripts with paragraph and word timing, collections, clip and collection export, and generative thumbnails. That makes OpusClip usable as a specialist service inside an internal content pipeline. It does not remove the need for idempotency, webhook verification, retries, usage monitoring, human approval, media retention, and a destination-specific publishing policy.
The hosted MCP server is now live at mcp.opus.pro/mcp. It uses OAuth rather than a copied API key and is documented for Cursor, Cline, Claude Code, ChatGPT/Codex, and other MCP hosts. Any account can complete OAuth and see the catalog, but calling tools requires Pro Beta, Max, or Business access. The endpoint exposes 26 active workflow tools plus two deprecated signposts and separate thumbnail-generation tools. Write tools prompt for host approval, but several publishing actions commit directly once approved on this self-configured endpoint.
The Claude.ai connector is a different endpoint and a different safety model. It exposes the workflow catalog but no media-generation tools. Posting, scheduling, unscheduling, and project sharing return a private link that the user must open and confirm in OpusClip; the tool call alone does not commit the action or spend its related credits. The directory listing is documented as coming soon, but a custom connector can be configured now. Buyers should not treat 'Claude connector' and 'hosted MCP server' as interchangeable names.
OpusClip also publishes an installable Skill for agent environments that prefer API-key code over OAuth MCP. The Skill documents API calls and examples an agent adapts at runtime. This can be convenient for development workflows, but it transfers key storage, rotation, scope, logging, and execution safety to the operator. A hosted connector reduces secret handling; a code package can offer more explicit integration control. Choose based on security architecture, not on which installation command looks shorter.
Pro Beta and Max automation has limits separate from the subscription balance. Core project and clip APIs allow 30 requests per minute per API key. API and agent usage is capped at 15 hours or 900 credits per calendar month per workspace, resetting on the first day of the month in UTC. Hitting the monthly cap returns 403 so an agent does not retry indefinitely; the web app remains usable. Up to four projects can run concurrently, and exceeding that limit returns 429 until one completes. Business limits are contractual.
Every Pro Beta or Max API project has a ten-credit minimum, roughly ten source minutes, even when the submitted range is shorter. The browser does not have this API-only floor. A workflow that automates ten one-minute sources could therefore consume about 100 API credits where manual web submission would nominally consume around ten. Batch design and channel architecture matter. The minimum should be included in cost forecasts, and a developer should not infer API economics solely from the web product's one-credit-per-minute explanation.
The transcript endpoint can return source text at paragraph level and with individual word timings, which is useful for search, review, compliance, downstream captions, and custom selection logic. Word timing is probabilistic transcription metadata, not a legal transcript or frame-exact edit decision. Names, numbers, claims, speaker assignment, crosstalk, music, and inaudible passages still require validation. If a transcript leaves the OpusClip workspace, the receiving system inherits retention, access-control, and privacy responsibilities.
Generative thumbnail jobs are another metered automation surface. Current API documentation describes seven credits for a successful thumbnail job and a refund on failure. The result is a candidate, not an evidence-based performance forecast. Brand likeness, faces, text, logos, product accuracy, platform policy, deceptive composition, and A/B-test design still need human governance. Thumbnail cost should be separated from source-processing credits when calculating the cost of a published package.
Collections let API and agent users organize approved clips, add or remove members, and export download links across a set. This is useful for campaign packets or review queues, especially when the content pipeline already has an asset-management layer. It is not a substitute for durable storage or formal approval state. Collection membership, project retention, export URL expiry, clip version, destination, owner, and license should be mirrored in the organization's system of record.
The iOS app is a companion surface. It can submit material, produce clips, make basic caption changes, apply existing templates, connect accounts, and publish. Current documentation excludes several web capabilities including some source integrations, auto-import setup, custom upload length, B-roll, image overlays, AI enhancements, new template creation, cloud-save controls, bulk download, XML handoff, and timed scheduling. A team evaluating Pro should test the web editor; a mobile-only demo does not represent either the full feature set or its operational dependencies.
Language support has at least three layers: source recognition, caption styling, and translation. OpusClip lists more than 25 source languages, many labeled beta, while the pricing page describes animated captions across 20-plus languages. Right-to-left source languages such as Arabic, Hebrew, Kurdish, and Persian are not currently supported, and the current subtitle-translation documentation is centered on translation to English. Mixed-language speech, regional vocabulary, names, punctuation, and reading direction require testing with the exact source and target destination.
The current Terms draw a commercial line between paid and Free service. Paid subscribers receive the relevant commercial-use license, while Free use is described as internal, personal, and non-commercial. Users retain ownership of their submissions but grant Opus the licenses needed to operate the service. Specialization is the ceiling
OpusClip is optimized to find and package social cutdowns. It is not a general brief-following editor for constructing or finishing a full episode, commercial, course lesson, montage, documentary, or client film.
The Free plan is an evaluation surface
Free output is watermarked, cannot be edited, lacks Virality Score, and is deleted after three days. A realistic test should use the tier whose selection model, crop, editor, retention, and handoff the production workflow actually needs.
A score is not audience research
Virality Score can prioritize candidates, but it cannot guarantee distribution or performance. Topic strength, existing audience, thumbnail and copy, timing, platform context, retention, and publishing cadence still determine results.
Starter is more constrained than its editor label suggests

True 4K is Enterprise-only
Free is advertised up to 1080p, and OpusClip's 4K help page says Starter and Pro do not have 4K export. Enterprise can preserve a genuine 3840×2160 source; it does not upscale lower-resolution footage into real 4K.
Credit yield is source-dependent
One hour of source generally costs about 60 credits whether the system returns five strong clips or none. X posts also cost a credit each. The output count and usefulness vary by source, model, prompt, and available moments.
Mobile is a companion, not the full Pro editor
The iOS app lacks several import, B-roll, enhancement, storage, bulk, XML, template-authoring, and scheduling capabilities. A mobile-only evaluation can understate both the product's strength and the desktop workflow it requires.
Language coverage has boundaries

Five-minute auto-confirm can outrun review
Agent Opus can approve its brief, transcript, and storyboard after five idle minutes. That convenience is risky for legal claims, licensed assets, confidential launches, or any workflow that requires explicit human sign-off.
One credit label hides different economics
Clipping measures source duration; generation measures output duration and mode; X posting and thumbnails have their own charges; API jobs add a floor. A single balance does not mean a single unit of value.
Generative minutes can be expensive
At current starting rates, a 60-second script video is roughly 60 credits, article video 120, and AI UGC 180. Revisions and alternate outputs can consume a small self-serve pool quickly.
Max price is not publicly transparent
Agent Opus documents 1,500 monthly credits but the reviewed first-party pages do not state a public USD price. Buyers must sign in and preserve the offered checkout terms before modeling it.
Main Agent Opus has a 1,700-word ceiling
The approximately ten-minute transcript limit excludes long episodes, courses, and many webinars. Those sources must be excerpted, summarized, or processed through the clipping workflow instead.
Uploaded video visuals are discarded by the agent
When video is supplied to main Agent Opus, the documentation says it extracts the audio track. The product is not re-editing or preserving the original shots through that input path.
Story Mode has a smaller input ceiling
Story Mode accepts about 450 words or four minutes, so its consistent synthetic aesthetic does not remove the need to compress longer narratives before generation.
Generation availability is regional
Agent Opus publishes a supported-country list. A distributed team cannot assume that plan purchase, a shared workspace, or product access in one country grants access everywhere.
Style references are not brand guarantees
Eight images, one video, and a text direction can condition a look, but they do not guarantee exact logos, colors, product geometry, people, typography, or shot-to-shot identity.
Current documentation conflicts on accepted inputs
The main Agent FAQ contains both restrictive input tables and broader examples involving articles or links. Production automation should follow the active control and a tested input, not an inferred promise.
B-roll quotas conflict across official pages
Current pricing says three Starter AI image clips per month while an older help article says three per day. The live entitlement should govern purchase and capacity planning.
Upload ceilings conflict across official pages
A general article cites 10GB while current Pro and API materials cite 30GB. Large-file workflows need a real upload test with the correct plan and source path.
No bulk caption edit
Existing clips must have caption visibility and corrections handled individually. A 40-candidate batch can therefore create substantial repetitive QA even when selection is fast.
Burned-in source captions cannot be removed
If words are already pixels in the uploaded footage, OpusClip cannot reconstruct the clean background. A caption-free master is required for a truly new style.
Text surfaces can diverge
Transcript, animated captions, SRT, title, description, hashtags, and scheduled copy are related but distinct. Correcting one does not justify assuming every other surface is correct.

Speech repair is reconstructive. Noise, overlap, music, clipping, room tone, or an unusual voice can produce unnatural audio that only a full headphone review reveals.
Reframing still fails on complex compositions
Two distant speakers, slides plus presenter, screen recordings, sports action, occlusion, and rapid cuts can defeat automatic tracking or create a crop that changes the meaning.
Pro packs bundle resources
Extra credits cannot be purchased independently under the documented OpusClip pack model. Buyers may pay for seats, templates, and storage they do not need simply to process more source minutes.
Team credits are a shared contention point
Two Pro seats draw from the same workspace pool. One automation, long source, or Agent Opus generation can consume capacity needed by the rest of the team.
Downgrade rules are awkward
Free downgrade is allowed only below 30 credits and removes paid features immediately. Annual Pro cannot directly downgrade to Starter; the documented path is cancellation and resubscription.
Expired projects are unrecoverable
Three-, seven-, and 30-day windows are short for approvals or client revisions. Upgrading after deletion does not recreate the missing project, and cloud storage still needs active management.
Shared storage includes uploaded assets
Pro's 100GB is not reserved only for projects. Logos, overlays, B-roll, and other uploaded material draw from the same pool and can create unexpected cleanup pressure.
Deleting a project does not refund credits
The recoverable Pro path is time- and download-dependent. Ordinary deletion is not a billing reversal, and a retry can consume another charge.
Scheduled posts can become stale
A schedule freezes the version at creation. Later corrections to the source clip do not propagate, so an uncorrected asset can still publish after the project itself expires.
Social connections are capped at six
The limit is total connections, not six per platform. Agencies and multi-brand teams can outgrow it quickly even when the content volume fits Pro credits.
Facebook support is Pages only
Profiles and Groups are excluded from the documented scheduler. A generic 'Facebook publishing' feature row can therefore overstate a creator's usable destination.
X remains beta and metered
Posting costs one credit per clip and has separate rate behavior. Distribution spend should be included in a high-volume workflow rather than treated as a free endpoint.
Scheduled delivery has destination constraints
Scheduler uploads use separate size, container, frame-rate, account-type, and platform rules. A project that renders successfully can still fail at the final publishing step.
NLE handoff is not full-fidelity interchange
Captions and emojis may arrive as overlays, generated assets need relinking, and XML interpretation varies. The destination timeline must be compared with the OpusClip render.
True native caption objects are not guaranteed
Editors who need complete caption restyling should use the SRT. Treating overlay captions as normal Premiere objects can create an avoidable finishing dead end.
API use has a separate 900-credit cap
A Pro or Max subscription can retain web credits while automation returns 403 for the rest of the UTC month. The public API is not an unlimited route to the plan balance.
API projects have a ten-credit minimum
Short automated inputs can cost many times the comparable browser submission. The floor materially changes unit economics for one-minute or micro-content pipelines.
Only four Pro API projects run concurrently
A queue that submits too aggressively receives 429 responses until in-flight projects complete. Backoff, idempotency, and capacity monitoring are required.
Hosted MCP requires an eligible plan
OAuth and catalog visibility do not prove execution access. Tools return an upgrade prompt unless the connected organization has Pro Beta, Max, or Business entitlement.
MCP and Claude publishing behave differently
The hosted MCP endpoint can commit approved social actions directly, while the Claude connector returns confirmation links. Reusing prompts across them without accounting for this difference is unsafe.
An agent connection is fixed to one organization
Multi-org users choose an organization at OAuth time and cannot switch it through a tool. Acting in another workspace requires disconnecting and reconnecting.
API transcripts remain probabilistic
Paragraph and word timing are useful automation inputs, but names, numbers, speakers, crosstalk, and inaudible speech still require a source-grounded review.
Generated thumbnails need governance
Seven-credit output candidates can contain inaccurate text, likeness, product details, or deceptive imagery. A generation endpoint is not an automatic publishing approval.
Collections are not durable asset management
They organize clips inside the workflow, but retention, permissions, version history, export-link lifetime, rights, and approval state still belong in a system of record.
Free commercial use is restricted
The current Terms describe Free as internal, personal, and non-commercial. A watermarked export or free allowance should not be assumed licensed for client or revenue-generating work.

Copyright responsibility stays with the user
Technical import of a public URL does not create permission to republish it. Music, footage, faces, trademarks, stock media, generated assets, and platform policies remain the publisher's responsibility.
Account deletion requires cancellation first
An active subscription blocks the documented deletion flow. Export, disconnect integrations, cancel, wait for status changes if needed, and only then request irreversible removal.
Cloud dependence remains
Import, analysis, generation, enhancement, storage, API calls, and publishing depend on remote services and third-party platforms. An outage or authorization expiry can stop the pipeline.
Candidate volume can create a review bottleneck
Forty automated options are valuable only if someone checks context, duplication, factual claims, crop, captions, audio, rights, hook, and ending. Generation moves labor; it does not erase accountability.
