Riverside alternatives for Magic Clips and editing
If you like recording in Riverside but want different clips or a different editor, keep recording there and take the files elsewhere. For automatic clips, OpusClip, Vizard and Reap are the closest Magic Clips alternatives. For an all-in-one record-and-edit studio, Descript, with Rooms and the Underlord agent. For directed edits of the full episode and its shorts, Valmera, which also runs from Claude or ChatGPT over MCP.
Valmera publishes this guide and makes one of the tools in it. Competitor facts come from each vendor’s own site, checked October 6, 2026; sources are at the end.
What Riverside does well, and why people look elsewhere
Riverside records remote guests on separate audio and video tracks up to 4K, then edits in a text-based editor with Magic Audio, automatic layout switching and captions. Magic Clips picks highlights in one click. Co-Creator, a chat agent, edits and repurposes on request, and Riverside MCP (Grow plans and above) lets Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor edit, clip and schedule posts. The free plan includes Magic Clips, with 720p output, a watermark and two one-off hours of multitrack recording.
- You record elsewhere (Zoom, StreamYard, a camera) and only need clips or editing.
- You want more say over each clip: the exact moment, the first line, the pacing.
- You need dubbing, translated subtitles or different caption styles.
- You want an agent to edit the whole episode outside Riverside, or from your own AI assistant.
